How You Can Find The Cycling Bicycle That's A Perfect Fit

The preferred mode of transport has taken an unlikely turn in recent years. More and more people are leaving the car behind in favor of the bicycle, in the west the car reigned supreme but we are now seeing a growth in popularity of the bike. It could be down to efforts to remain green, perhaps people want to save money on high gas prices, or maybe many people just want to get in shape! No matter what has caused it, the fact is there are now more cyclists on the road than in a long while. Maybe you have been pondering purchasing a bike? If you have then there are several things you should look at when you do.

It’s okay for fashion to affect the decision you make about your new bicycle. The color we like best, or the style we like least, all influence our choices. These preferences must be listened to when getting your next bike. Unless you are just buying a bike for the sheer look of it, style and fashion options shouldn't be the ultimate priorities. Excellent safety and comfort should be the first criteria met by your new bike. When you’ve assembled some bikes that are both comfortable and safe, then look to see which you like the looks of better. Your bicycle seat should not be at the lowest setting, which is sitting atop the crossbar. You always want to bring the seat up at least a few inches when you begin to ride, so keep this in mind when you are picking your bike. The added space between you and the crossbar, afforded by raising the seat slightly, will make a positive impact on your level of comfort. You want to be able to sit on the bike and place your foot on the pedal at the lowest position, and almost be able to fully extend your leg.

Be certain to leave adequate room between yourself and your bikes crossbar. When you get a bike be sure to move the seat up a couple of inches from the crossbar. You should be able to still rest your feet flat on the floor. Which bike you get will greatly alter the clearance you will require. As an example, with a touring bike you will only require around 1". With a mountain bike a clearance of 3" will be necessary.

There are lots of things to think about when you are buying a cycling bicycle. Your choices range from safety issues to those of fashion. If you feel like you are being deluged by choices, you are perfectly normal. Do your research and then you’ll feel better prepared to choose your new bike.

Do this research before you go index shopping. The peace it will offer during shopping makes it very worthwhile.
